Missed inspection evaluations
- Review of what stage was missed
- Evaluation of accessible existing conditions
- Notes on work that is now covered
- Documentation to support the inspection record
A missed inspection may leave work undocumented; a failed inspection identifies items that need attention. We review the permit record and existing conditions, then prepare engineering details or letters to help address the outstanding items.
We first establish whether the work was inspected and what the inspection record says. That determines what needs to be evaluated or corrected.
Work moved ahead before the inspection took place, and some of it may now be covered. We identify what can be verified and what needs additional access or documentation.
The inspector issued a list of items to correct. Your contractor may be able to address some directly; others need an engineered repair detail or supporting documentation.
Drywall closed over framing, a slab poured before the under-slab inspection, siding installed before the sheathing was seen. This is the most common version of a missed inspection, and it is where photos and records matter most.
We can evaluate what is accessible and document it accurately. If something needs to be opened up to verify, we will say so and describe how much of it needs to come apart.
No. Many items can be corrected by the contractor and scheduled for re-inspection. We get involved when the item is engineering related or when the contractor wants documentation behind the fix.
That stays with the permit holder or the contractor. Our part is making sure the documentation and details are ready before the inspector comes back.
Even a screenshot of the inspection portal helps. We will tell you what can be documented, whether a visit is needed, and what engineering support may be needed.
